Mass Effect Film?

It seems that Hollywood won't stop its interest in making movies from game franchises, and Mass Effect may be the latest game on its radar.

MTV Movies Blog conducted an exclusive interview with Casey Hudson, Mass Effect 2 Lead Programmer, who reveals a sober attitude to Hollywood's interest.

"Obviously we have a tremendous amount of interest from people in Hollywood to make a major motion picture about Mass Effect. The most important thing for us is, we don't just want to see a movie get made. We want to see a great movie get made, if it's going to get done at all,” he says.

There is nothing concrete here, but many gamers have complained about the bad quality of movies based on games. Disney / Jerry Bruckheimer's Prince of Persia, based on the popular game franchise, may hold some hope but this remains to be seen. Otherwise, there have been very few – if at all – good movies based on game franchises.

Mass Effect offers a very compelling storyline, and Bioware have created an incredibly detailed universe. If Hollywood was to represent it accurately, one movie probably would never do.

The highly-anticipated Mass Effect 2 releases 29 January in South Africa for Xbox 360 and PC.
