Astrum Online Enters Chinese and German Markets

Astrum Online Entertainment, a games company in the Russian interactive entertainment market, has made a strategic breakthrough in development of its business: one of the holding leading game projects – massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) Legend: Legacy of the Dragons – was launched in the national online games markets of China and Germany at the end of October 2008. The launches of official Chinese ( and German ( game sites were the beginning of active business operations of Astrum Online in these markets.

The browser based online game Legend: Legacy of the Dragons launching in the foreign markets was the result of Astrum Online Entertainment holding a strategic line to gain and support its status of a global company and driving of Russian game projects up to international level.

The Chinese launch of the Russian web-based MMORPG Legend: Legacy of the Dragons was made with the assistance of Snail Game, a 3D online game operator and developer in China. It is the first but not the last joint project of the companies and the first instance of the release of such an expansive web game product in China. THis also marks the first release of a Russian web-based MMO game in the Asian market.

The universe shuddered at the sight of the two Great Dragons, Erifarius and Striagorn, locked in combat.

Vladimir Nikolsky, Astrum Online Entertainment holding CEO, delivered a speech to members of the Chinese media at the press conference in Shanghai. He praised the perspectives of MMO games in the Chinese online entertainment segment and expressed his confidence in further successful cooperation between Astrum Online Entertainment and Snail Game, having underlined that it was the first instance of such a large-scale collaboration of Russian and Chinese online publishers.

According to the expert estimates of Shi Hai, Snail Games President, Snail Game's browser-based online games market share in China will reach 70% by the end of 2009. Half of the Snail Games’ market share will be obtained by Legend: Legacy of the Dragons and other games of the Russian holding company.

As Chinese experts say, the growth of the online games market in China will be up to 26 percent and will break through the $2.8 billion line in 2009.

Within two and a half years since the official Legend: Legacy of the Dragons launch in Russia it registered more than 2.5 million players on Russian servers. The game was the winner of Russian Web Award “Top-10” in 2007 and 2008. Moreover, from the beginning of 2008 English language consumer services were set up and by the beginning of 2009 a Turkish version it is planned to be ready. Also it is scheduled to implement game support in all the main European languages.
