LoL Games Crashing

Bug Splat has been a plague on the League of Legends (LoL) community lately. This error crashes your LoL and makes it impossible for you to reconnect to the game.

Riot Games does know about this problem and is trying to fix it. Work was started on it yesterday, 2 June 2014, and the solution was found at 1:40am today, 3 June 2014.

“We have determined what is causing the crash bug. It is a piece of code that is related to the way certain champions’ missile effects are updated. We are disabling the following champions: Diana, Heimerdinger, and Ahri, which should prevent people from getting impacted by this problem anymore.” says Therewolf, associate producer at Riot Games. “We’re continuing to scan and kill games that are in a stuck state and will make sure no one remains stuck even after we disable the champions. We’re currently fast tracking a fix and are hoping to get the fix out during the day.”

These kinds of incidents can seriously impede the LoL Telkom Do Gaming League (DGL) as they are unable to play scheduled games, or will not be able to utilise the champions they have been practicing with (if anyone still plays Diana, Heimerdinger or Ahri).

There always seems to be a problem with the server right after an update. This problem was dealt with quickly and efficiently, even though it took several hours to find the root cause of the problem. In the past it has taken substantially longer for the team at Riot Games to find and solve the problem. It is a hope of the players that this will be the precedent when it comes to future problems of a Bug Splat nature.
