LoL Winter Playoffs around the Corner

The League of Legends (LoL) Winter Leg Playoffs will take place once the Telkom Do Gaming League (DGL) 2014 Winter Leg has concluded.

The Winter Leg Playoffs is a round robin stage which sees competitors competing against each other in order to be promoted to a stronger division or in order to fight to stay in their current division. This is one of the most challenging times for teams as they are made to organise when their games are played, the only deadline being the end of the playoff stage. The following are the positions that will be moving into the playoffs:

Premier Playoffs:

The teams that finish seventh to tenth in the Premier Division will be fighting against incoming First Division teams, who placed first to fourth, for their spot in the Premier Division for the 2015 Season. There will be twelve teams divided into two groups. Teams that placed first and second in each group will be promoted while the lower four will be demoted to the First Division. Those lower four teams will qualify for the Telkom Do Gaming Championship (DGC) Playoffs.

Breakthrough Playoffs:

The teams that finish seventh to tenth in each group of the First Division will be taking on the players that finished first through fourth in each group of the Open Division for a spot in the First Division. There will be two groups of eight teams, the top four per group will be promoted while the bottom four are demoted to the Open Division. The teams that place first and second in each group will qualify for the DGC Playoffs.

DGC Playoffs:

The DGC Playoff is a round robin stage which sees competitors competing against each for the final spots available at the DGC. The DGC Playoffs will occur after the Winter Leg Playoffs. The qualifying teams will be:

  • The lower four teams in the Premier Playoffs
  • Teams that placed fifth and sixth in the First Division
  • Teams that placed first and second in the Breakthrough Playoffs

This will make it two groups of eight teams each, with the top three teams qualifying for the DGC. They will be joining the 10 teams from the Premier Division, the top six from the Winter Leg plus the four that qualify through the Winter Leg Playoffs. There will only be 16 spots available at the DGC and it will be a time for players to meet up with their opponents and friends, while they take each other on for the title of LoL DGL Champion.

The 2014 League of Legends Telkom Do Gaming League is sponsored by Razer.
