Hitman Absolution Offers It All

Hitman has solely been a stealth game in the past but the new version will be somewhat different in that it will offer plays two completely different styles of play.

According to Sid Shuman, PlayStation Blog social media specialist, has reported that the new Hitman Absolution will ‘no longer suck’ in combat. Gamers will be able to kill openly and be able to gun down enemies and move from cover to cover while also having the classic stealth approach the game has been known for. Players will be able to choose between these two different methods of play and game however they feel would best satisfy their whims.

Shuman, the lucky guy, sat through a playable demo with HakanAbrak, IO Interactive lead producer and had this to say:

“The result was a succession of nailbiting sequences in which Agent 47 narrowly avoided detection, weaving and rolling between cover, setting off small distractions in the environment to lure away and separate roaming guards, and donning disguises to penetrate deeper into the compound. Then the producer replayed the same scenario using Hitman: Absolution’s overhauled action gameplay. Instead of misdirecting his foes to avoid combat, Agent 47 brutally dispatched every poor sap he came across, hurling fire axes into craniums, bashing brains in with giant crucifixes, and double-tapping enemies at close range using a recovered pistol. The climax was a shootout against a mob of thugs using a room-clearing shotgun, cover-based shooting tactics, and a slow-mo burst of firepower called “Point Shooting.” And you know what? It looked like a helluva lot of fun.”

Abrak says that they wanted to expand the concept of a living, breathing world with characters that are a lot less binary and that have conceivable reactions. The enhancement of Agent 47, the protagonist, has worked in a number of ways and “Instinct” has been introduced which conveys the character's senses. He also says that in Hitman Absolution, the team has succeeded in making Agent 47 the ultimate assassin by mixing in these senses with the gameplay.
