Slider under Pressure in Premier Playoffs

StarCraft player Chris 'Slider' Schoeman sits top of Group A in the 2014 Telkom Do Gaming League (DGL) Hearthstone (HS) Premier Playoffs but will require one last win and a bit off luck if he is to qualify for the Winter Leg Premier Division.

Schoeman sits just two points clear at the top of the log, having picked up four wins from six games with his final match of the playoffs against Saleem 'Slimz' Manjoo.

Manjoo is yet to complete a single playoff match and could very well hand Schoeman a crucial three points via forfeit come the end of the season.

The win would take the Terran star to 17 points but keep him under pressure from Shawn 'Psylak' Hentze, Andre 'Dethilian#2208' Van de Haar and Peter 'Fancy-Pants' Long How who still have several games to play.

“I've been quite surprised with how well I’ve been doing in the playoffs,”
says Schoeman.

“I'm in a good position to finish in the top half of the table which I’m very happy about. I’ve made four or five decent decks which have carried me this far and with a little luck, I could qualify for the Winter Leg Premier Division.”

Schoeman finished the Summer Leg Open Division in second place of Group E, virtually undefeated (one draw) but has since dropped points to both Van de Haar and Jason 'Shagga' Julius in his push for the Premier Playoff Summit.

Each playoff group consists of eight players, with the top two from each group guaranteed a spot in next season’s Premier Division while the rest will be demoted to the First division.

“My main focus is still StarCraft but I've always enjoyed Hearthstone as a distraction.”

“The local Hearthstone community has a lot of potential, and the Premier Division [should I qualify] will be difficult, but I’ll take it as it comes.”
