Hearthstone Registrations Leading the Pack

With the 2014 Telkom Do Gaming League season almost upon us, with registrations closing on 19 January 2014, one game in particular is currently standing at the top despite its beta status.

The Telkom DGL team first launched an Insta-Clash Cup for Hearthstone in 2013 where a decent number of attendees were able to play and enjoy. It was the first Hearthstone tournament in South Africa and Sakkie ‘RandomHero’ Basson was able to take the win by beating Ben ‘Noxville’ Steenhuisen in the finals winning three games to one.

Both players will be returning to Hearthstone in the 2014 season as these players make up just two of the numbers from the Summer Leg of the Telkom Do Gaming Hearthstone League for 2014 which currently sees 118 entries into the competition. With well over two weeks to go for registrations, it seems that Hearthstone might be on the path to breaking some local DGL records.

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is an upcoming free-to-play digital collectible card game from Blizzard Entertainment. At present, the game is still in closed beta with a hopeful open beta announcement coming soon. The game is planned for release on iPad, iPhone and Android devices too, but currently only PC and Mac releases are planned at launch.

In the game, there are 382 cards currently available to play and players will need to earn or buy booster packs. Players will each take control of a hero, similar to classes in World of Warcraft. Players will then play against other players in a match, taking turns and playing cards based on how many mana crystals are available to that player, while not exceeding your mana limit per turn.

In order to join the Summer Leg for the Hearthstone Telkom DGL, head over to the registrations and sign up. Please bear in mind that you need to have the game already as beta keys or invitations will not be provided to those that sign up.
