Hearthstone Insta-Clash into Semi-Finals

The Telkom Do Gaming League (DGL) Hearthstone Insta-Clash Cup is in to the Semi-Finals, as the final four competitors fight it out to claim the bragging rights in the first ever local Hearthstone tournament.

It is interesting to note that all four players that have made it into the semi-finals are Dota players by reputation, something the local community can definitely boast about considering that more than half of the 32 players that entered the tournament did not have Dota as their first competitive game.

Here are your semi finalists:

    Sakkie “Randomhero” Basson

  • Ross “Prince of Ravens” Geldenhuys
  • Ben “Noxville” Steenhuisen
  • Michael “Strider” Elliot

These semi-finals are the last round of best-of-three matches, as the final is a best of five that will feature all three of the finalists decks. Basson is the community favourite to win by quite a ways due to his activity on the international Hearthstone scene, but the other semi-finalists have also put together some strong decks.

For those wanting to learn more about the local scene, Elliot has put up some VODs of his matches, the latest of which was done live as he played the game, and offers good insight into some of the decision making required in a competitive setting.
