Hearthstone Cup Closed

Once again the South African Hearthstone community is out in full force as registrations for the Hearthstone Telkom Do Gaming League (DGL) Insta-Clash Cup (ICC) Valentines Edition surpassed the half-century mark at closing.

Entries for Blizzard's free-to-play collectible card game closed at 67, more than double that of the initial HS ICC back in 2013.

Registrations include November's Insta-Clash runner-up Ben 'Noxville' Steenhuisen as well as Do Gaming Editor Robert 'GrIdL0cK' Clegg, while reigning champion Sakkie 'RandomHero' Basson is notably absent and will not be defending his title.

The DOTA veteran and Energy esports player will be focusing on the respective DOTA 2 ICC which means we will crown a new champion come March.

The tournament will follow DGL Rules and Regulations and be contested under a single-elimination, best-of-three rule set.

The series will span over the course of two weeks with one match every two days, with the grand finale scheduled to take place on 3 March.

The final brackets will be released later this week while the competition officially kicks off on Monday, 17 February.

Signups for the DGL HS Summer Leg also set a new milestone for individual competition with 294 players spread out across 16 different groups.

Match week two is already underway, with group leaders beginning to shape up.
