Looking Ahead to FIFA 13

FIFA is a returning franchise that pops up every year and seems to do better and better with time.

Last year in FIFA 12, a lot of new features emerged that changed the game in a very position way and EA Sports will be releasing FIFA 13 this year which normally comes about around October sometime. FIFA 13 has some new features that it will be bringing to the franchise and will build off the previous successes of FIFA 12.

Attacking Intelligence:

In FIFA 13, Attacking Intelligence will give players the ability to analyse space. Players will need to work harder and smarter to break down the defence. AI controlled players will be able to make runs that will pull defenders out of position which will subsequently open passing channels for teammates.

Complete Dribbling:

The precise dribbling technique is refined in FIFA 13 and players will be able to make slight touches on the ball with 360 degree mobility. This will allow players to be more creative in 1 vs. 1 situations.

First Touch Control:

This new system developed for FIFA 13 will change the way players control the ball which eliminates the near-perfect touch for players. It will create more opportunities for the opposing team to capitalise on balls that are loose after a poor touch, enabled them to win back possession.

On top of these new features, EA Sports will be integrating directly with Xbox Kinect as well. Players will be able to use voice commands to manage the club tactics without pausing the game. Making substitutions has never been easier as players will be able to shout at the Kinect to make substitutions or even shout orders on the pitch in Be A Pro. Interestingly, players will also need to control their temper as the referee will provide feedback based on what they hear. Foul language directed at the official could result in a booking and may be mentioned by the commentators. It will also influence storylines that could develop based on players and managers letting their emotions get the better of them.

The Player Impact Engine that players have come to know and love from FIFA 12 has been expanded and refined which will now allow the engine to expand into physical play from pure collisions between players and also off-the-ball battles between players.

FIFA 13 has no official release date yet but is expected in quarter three. Taking past releases into account, gamers could probably expect FIFA 13 in either the last week of September or the first week in October. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Portable and Wii.
