Get Ready for 2011

The year of 2010 has come and gone and has undoubtedly been a great year for gaming. With releases like StarCraft 2, Red Dead Redemption, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Heavy Rain and Gran Turismo 5, 2011 will need to be quite a year in order to top the last one.

Thankfully due to the wonders of technological advancement and the Internet, this may seem very possible, and Do Gaming would like to present a list of games that are eagerly anticipated both by us as well as the general public.

One of the first games to highlight which hasn’t been announced for release this year, but is expected, is Diablo III. This is rumoured to be Blizzard’s big release for 2011 and it is widely known that gamers who attended BlizzCon last year were handed out beta invites for Diablo III, which is scheduled to start in February.

In addition to Diablo III, there will also be great new games coming such as Star Wars: The Old Republic, the massively multiplayer online (MMO) game that is designed to compete with World of Warcraft (WoW); along with the MMO, Guild Wars 2 which already has a huge fan base on its own. Crysis 2 and Dragon Age 2 will also be released this year in March, which are games that are bound to make an impact.

In terms of competitive possibilities for gamers, the largest game has to be DotA 2, which is being released in the middle of 2011 and has been worked on by both “IceFrog”, one of the original DotA design team members, and Valve.

Games like Brink and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier could start to take a place in first-person shooter (FPS) combat while Duke Nukem Forever could even make a comeback in the competitive scene.

As far as single player games go, 2011 will see the likes of Mass Effect 3, Uncharted 3, Prototype 2, Dues Ex 3, Portal 2, Batman: Arkham City and even Metal Gear Solid Rising. Shogun 2 and The Elder Scrolls Skyrim are also games worth mentioning that might be gracing us with their presence this year.

For racing fans, games like Need for Speed Shift 2 and Forza 4 will be released this year to compete with last year's release of Gran Turismo 5, which is sure to be quite a close competition.

Even for gamers who aren’t fond of any of the titles listed above, Little Big Planet 2 and RAGE will also be released in 2011, making sure that it is a year for everyone to enjoy gaming.

Crysis 2 Crysis 2

It’s always hard at the beginning of every year to say what will be big and what won’t be big, but at the end of the day every game listed here will be a top class game for 2011 and there are many games that are still unannounced that could also compete at the very highest level of gaming.

So it looks like this is going to be one heck of a year!
