Diablo 3 Pushed to Second Quarter

It's been on the cards for quite some time now and many gamers may have even expected it, but it’s now official – Diablo 3 has been pushed back to the second quarter.

In an investor call last night with Activision Blizzard, the team announced that they are officially targeting a Q2 launch for the game. This could make release anywhere between April and June of this year should everything go to plan.

It may seem like a huge surprise to some, but I was quite prepared for it and all the facts were pointing towards the game being pushed. After Steve Parker left the team and the numerous changes to the beta, there was just simply too much being changed in order to finalise the game for the first quarter.

In terms of releases, Blizzard also said in the investor call that there will only be two releases from them this year. StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm could be the second release for 2012 while the World of Warcraft expansion, Mists of Pandaria could take a backseat for now since it was announced sometime after. Nobody knows at this point apart from the people who were in the boardroom of that investor call.

It’s always been a trademark of Blizzard to release games when they are ready to be released because Blizzard believes in making games the way they are intended to be made. To be quite honest, if we don’t see Diablo 3 for another few months, but when it does come, it’s amazing, we will have all forgotten about this.

Oh, and there will also be a new Call of Duty game this year.
