Diablo 3 Expansion Closed Beta Soon

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls, the upcoming expansion to Blizzard Entertainment's action role-playing game, will receive a closed beta by the end of the year.

According to Battle.net, public testing on the expansion is already underway with Blizzard's "Friends and Family Beta," which includes friends and relatives of Blizzard employees as well as "valued media contacts and key members of the Blizzard community."

"Our Friends and Family Beta is just the first step of public testing, and by the end of the year we will be moving into Closed Beta," says Blizzard.

"Since our Reaper of Souls Closed Beta test will also feature all content in the expansion (again, excluding the final boss fight), invitations will be extremely limited. However, we'll continue handpicking community members to invite to the Closed Beta and bringing in additional players through opt-ins to ensure that all of our features like the Crusader, Mystic, and Adventure Mode get the testing they deserve."

There is another closed beta period coming later this year, but for now, it’s just the 3,000 most active Diablo players, along with the select media invites.

This new idea on seeding the beta testing to the most active fans and pivotal media contacts makes more sense if the goal is to generate excitement and buzz for the game online. Plus, it rewards the most avid fans for all their game play and loyalty.

To register for the beta test for this game, or any upcoming beta tests, you need to make a Battle.net profile.

Diablo 3 players must then adjust their Beta Profile Settings under the Account Management section of the Battle.net Account.
