Diablo III Sells 14 Million

Activision Blizzard announced in its most recent earnings report that Diablo III had sold over 14 million copies as of 30 September.

"We're pleased with the response to the game's launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360," says CEO Mike Morhaime.

"Lifetime sell through of the game across all platforms has reached over 14 million copies, and reviews have been very positive about how the game plays on consoles."

Blizzard attributes console success to the intuitive control scheme and the removal of the auction house from the PS3 version.

Also, Blizzard revealed that their MMO giant World of WarCraft has seen a decrease in subscribers despite the Mists of Pandariaexpansion selling 2.7 million copies in its first week.

The total number of subscribers sits at 7.3 million, 100 000 short of where they stood this time last month.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls expansion is currently in development for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
