Blizzard Keeps the World Waiting

Thomas Tippl, Activision COO, says that if there are no Blizzard games out this year then Activision expects Blizzard to release two titles in 2012 to make up for the lack of releases. But truth be told, Activision doesn’t seem that worried about it.

Since Blizzard hasn’t yet confirmed the release of its next two upcoming games Diablo 3 and a StarCraft 2 expansion, Heart of the Swarm, Activision’s outlook for 2011 doesn’t include a new Blizzard game for the year.

Mike Morhaime, Blizzard Entertainment CEO, says there would be more details on Diablo 3 including some information on the upcoming beta in the next three months or so.

“Until we get to beta and have the community help us test the game, we’re not going to lock in a release date,” he says. He went on to say that the games in the pipeline represent the best and widest slate of games Blizzard has ever produced.

Gamers need to remember that Blizzard is not only working on Diablo 3 and StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, but it also has plans for a new massively multiplayer online (MMO) game codenamed Titan. In addition to this, it is also working on getting World of Warcraft: Cataclysm released in China.
