For those of you who have forsaken the use of Google, redirecting your browser to http://modernwarfare3.com/ will yield some interesting results.
Of course, this isn’t the official website for Modern Warfare 3 but as of late, the site has been picking up a lot of hits. The web address ModernWarfare3.com actually redirects users to the official Battlefield 3 website and has recently been picking up a lot more traffic purely because the game is getting closer to its release date.
Fusible.com has been piecing a story together over the last couple months, monitoring the situation and, as it turns out, the website isn’t owned by Activision or EA. It is actually owned by a community member, who started the website as an “anti Call of Duty” website and previously had messages on the site proclaiming hatred and angst towards the franchise as well as the publisher for the Call of Duty series.
Currently the website is receiving a lot of traffic and also has a number of fans and followers on the Facebook page. At the end of the day, it seems that a Battlefield fan was just a little quicker than the guys over at Activision.
