Xtc have continued to impress in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) Telkom DGL 2012, brought to you by Alienware, Megarom and Monster Energy, finding themselves not quite getting there against Bravado but taking out impi in Week 5 and drawing with Vitriolic in the first week.
The scores in their game against Bravado are worth noting – a draw on the first map (Underground) which led to a near win by Bravado on Lockdown (13 – 11) but then something of a walkover on bakaara (13 – 3 to Bravado).
Alienware is sponsoring five PC's to the MW3 the DGL 2012 Championships.
With Vitriolic's loss against the power house that is Bravado Gaming last week, it's all down to impi to at least bruise the heel of Bravado as they match-up on Monday. But the interesting thing about the scores is that xTc are poised to beat impi in the race for second place – much like they did in their 3 – 1 win against Impi this last Monday.
Even if impi win against Bravado, impi's draw as opposed to Bravado's clear run of wins will probably still mean that Bravado would take first place for the leg prior to the playoffs. But impi needs the win to garner second place, because xTc's points and only one loss (against Bravado) are placing them firmly on the map.
While impi have two games in hand compared to xTc who are still to only play their pick and play against mG on Monday (which they are set to win), a loss against Bravado will put two losses to impi's name as opposed to xTc's one loss.
Megarom has sponsored R50,000 to the DGL 2012 Championships.
But in all this, leaving reN out would be somewhat unfair. Currently the team sit equal with Vitriolic in scores. Vitriolic will gain a bye against HpX this week (who have retired) while reN go against mG on Sunday. The very next day will be reN's opportunity to pip Vitriolic as they face each other, and a win would probably put a lot of smiles on the faces of reN. That would likely push Vitriolic to an embarrassing fifth place in the Premier League, a position that a team of their caliber should not be in.
The higher a team places in the leg, the easier the playoffs are for them, because they are put against lower ranked teams in the beginning of the playoffs and progressively face stronger teams coming through the ranks as the playoffs progress. This is why it's imperative that a team do well throughout the leg. That fifth placing is not going to be one that either Vitriolic or reN are going to want.

The playoffs also give an opportunity for lower division teams to test their mettle against teams of a higher division, effectively even having the opportunity to skip an entire division for the next leg.
So, Sunday and Monday are going to be the days to watch the MW3 logs.
