Monster Gaming (mG) MW3 has had a great start to the third and final leg of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) Telkom DGL 2012, brought to you by Alienware, Megarom and Monster Energy, launching a significant strike against 32B|Red in this last week's matches.
Their win has put them on the same level as Bravado in the leg thus far, who won their first week match against impi and their second week match against BR|Razers. MG MW3 are also ahead of their team-mates, mG | KHAOS, who they beat 2 – 0 last week.
Alienware is sponsoring five PC's to the MW3 DGL 2012 Championships.
Brandon 'broKeN_' De Beer, mG MW3 manager, says that beating 32B is, for him, an important milestone for the leg.
“For me, our biggest competition this leg was made up of 32B and Bravado. We've now beat 32B, one of the most difficult teams for us in this leg, and there's just Bravado left,” he says. “I'm expecting us to do well – we want a good season for the DGL 2012 Championships and that's our goal this leg.”
Things didn't look good for mG in the beginning of their match on Village, however. The first few rounds were mostly a one-for-one affair until 32B pulled away to have an advantage of 5 – 11.
“I then got one round to make it 6 – 11 and from there things turned around completely,” De Beer says. “Our morale got a major boost and we never lost a round from there.”
Megarom has sponsored R50,000 to the DGL 2012 Championships.
The turn-around was quite dramatic, seeing mG take the map at a score of 13 – 11. With mG in high spirits and 32B in lower spirits (there was a lot going on in Teamspeak, apparently), the next map – Lockdown – saw mG end it with a 13 – 6 victory.
MG is putting in the hours this leg. “We're trying to get together to practice at least five or six times a week,” De Beer says.
MG are due to face Bravado in week 5, while 32B will face Bravado the week prior to that. The next week (week 3) sees 32B|Red against ASF Renegades; mG KHAOS against Bravado; and BR|Razers against impi. It appears that this leg can really go several directions – it's going to be a really interesting final leg to the year.
