After much research and discussion, the Do Gaming League can finally announce the games which it will be supporting in 2012 with either full blown leagues or cups.
Call of Duty 4 on PC
Call of Duty 4 will once again feature in the Do Gaming League. The game attracted around 100 clans in 2011, once again showing great support from its community. In 2011 a prize pool of R80,000 was up for grabs for Call of Duty 4, brought to you by Telkom.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on PC
We have already announced the inclusion of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to the league, which we believe has a good shot at uniting all the Call of Duty communities into one massive South African record breaking league. Megarom have sponsored R50,000 in cash for what will be an amazing 2012 season.
Battlefield 3 on PC
Battlefield 3 is also expected to go huge. With each team consisting of eight players and three reserves, we expect it to really threaten Call of Duty’s spot at the top, in terms of pure league numbers. EA has sponsored R50,000 in cash for the 2012 Battlefield 3 Do Gaming League season, once again placing their support behind the community they are so passionate about.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on PC
We will be hosting a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive league once the game has been officially released. Valve have delayed the beta because they felt they had to spend more time listening to what the pro CS 1.6 players had to say about the game and make whatever changes were needed. This bodes well for the competitive aspect of the title as it means Valve is taking it seriously, unlike when they released Counter-Strike: Source.
DOTA 2 on PC
Another game we will be hosting leagues for once it's released is DOTA 2. Also being made by Valve, DOTA 2 is sure to deliver on its promises. Like CS:GO, DOTA 2 is also being developed with the competitive community in mind. Valve has probably realised that competitive games live much longer, which suits the new micro transaction business models they began playing with in Team Fortress 2.
FIFA 12 on PS3 and Xbox 360
Our FIFA 11 leagues were very successful in 2011 with R25,000 up for grabs, sponsored by Telkom . In 2012 we will be hosting FIFA 12 leagues for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. The league staff often play against each other in FIFA 12, so take our word for it… it is an amazing game.
Forza 4 (Xbox), Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) and rFactor (PC)
Forza 4 and Gran Turismo 5 will also receive leagues for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 respectively. On the PC side of things, we will be hosting an rFactor league in anticipation for rFactor 2 which will likely be released in the first half of 2012.
StarCraft 2 on PC
After a hugely successful 2011 StarCraft 2 league, brought to you by Samsung, we will once again be hosting SC2 leagues in 2012. In 2011, Samsung gave away over R200,000 worth of prizes.
We are unsure as to how popular some games are, and so we plan to test the waters by hosting cups for the below mentioned games. These cups will take place during leg 1.
Gears of War 3 on Xbox 360
Gears of War 3 has a dedicated following here in SA and we look forward developing its competitive community. Teams of five players each will battle it out online to find out who the very best really are.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on PS3 and Xbox 360
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 will receive a cup each. As a very well played console title we are looking forward to its future.
