How to create and manage cups

Creating and managing your cups is as easy as following the steps in this guide.

 

Creating your Cup

Step 1) Log in to your account on the Telkom Digital Gaming League website.

Step 2) Locate and click on the "Admin" button in the menu bar. (see image below)

 

Step 3) Click on the "Create a new cup" button. (see image below)

 

Step 4) Fill in the details for your cup. (see image below for a further explanation)

  • 1 - Organization: Here is a drop down menu of all of the Organizations that you are a manager in. Select the Organization that will be running this cup.
  • 2 - Cup name: Enter in the name of your cup.
  • 3 - Edit banner page: Here you will be able to upload a banner for your cup. Players/Teams will see this banner on the tournament page as well as when they are viewing your cup.
  • 4 - Description: Enter in the information that describes the cup that you are hosting. We suggest that you do not make this page to long to read but short and straight to the point. You will be able to set up a separate rules page with all of the cups information at a later stage in the cup setup.
  • 5 - Game: Select which game title will be played in this cup. If you wish to have more than one game title you will have to host separate cups.
  • 6 - Style: Select what style of match you will be using in the cup.
    • 6.1 - Reserves required: Once you have selected the style you will be required to enter in the amount of reserves that are required in each team when registering.
  • 7 - Registration type: Select whether the cup has open registrations or if the cup is invitational.
  • 8 - Registration closing date: Select the date and time that registrations close.
  • 9 - Number of stages: Select how many stages your cup will have

## Note: Do not stress if any mistakes are made as most details can be changed/edited post process. ##

• 5 - Game (if there is a game title that is not listed here please contact us via the ticket system here to request that a game titles be added)

 

• 6 - Style

 

• 6.1 - Reserves required

 

• 7 - Registration type

 

• 8 - Registration closing date

 

• 9 - Number of stages 

 

 

Step 5) Once you have filled in all the information on the "Cup Details" page click on the "Next" button on the bottom right hand side of the creation page.

Step 6) Fill in any and all cup specific rules. We would advise that you add in detailed information regarding your cup on this page along with the rules.

 

Further explanation of "Cup Specific Rules"

• Additional Rules - Here you can add in additional rule sets that have been created by the Digital Gaming League Admin team.

## Note: As the DGL will not be officially affiliated with your cup we would suggest contacting the DGL staff if you wish to use any of the additional rules that are listed ##

 

Step 7) Once you have filled in all the information on the "Cup Specific Rules" page click on the "Next" button on the bottom right hand side of the creation page.

Step 8) Setup up your stages. (see image below for a further explanation)

  • 1 - Name: Set the name of your stage. For example if you are running a cup that is a Single Elimination you could set the name as "Knockout Round".
  • 2 - Start date: Set the start date of your cup. This is the date where matches in the cup will start to take place.
  • 3 - Max number of competitors: Set the max number of competitors you want in your cup.
  • 4 - Match frequency: Set up how often you would like the matches to take place.
  • 5 - Round format: Set up what kind of format you want your cup to be.
  • 6 - Game win percentage: Select if want game win percentage to be shown in results. (Only available in Round Robin format)
  • 7 - Pools: Select whether you want a Max pool size or if you would like a Number of pools. (Only available in Round Robin format)
    • 7.1 - Max pool size: This option is if you specifically want a maximum amount of players/teams per pool (or group). The amount of pools (groups) will be decided by the amount of competitors you have.
    • 7.2 - Number of pools: This option is if you are not worried about how many players/teams are in your pools (groups) but you only want a certain amount of pools.
  • 8 - Max pool size/Number of pools: Set the amount. (Only available in Round Robin format)
  • 9 - Points configuration: Set the amount of points teams/players get per match. (Only available in Round Robin format)

Step 9) Once you have filled in all the information on the "Stage Details" page click on the "Next" button on the bottom right hand side of the creation page.

Step 10) Invite your competitors. (This option is only available if your cup is "Invite Only", if you have selected "Open Registrations" this page will not be available) (see image below)

 

Step 11) Once you have filled in all the information on the "Competitors" page click on the "Next" button on the bottom right hand side of the creation page.

Step 12) Double check that all of your cup information is correct on the "Confirm Details" page. (see example image below)

 

Step 13) Once you are satisfied with all the information on the "Confirm Details" page click on the "Finish" button on the bottom right hand side of the creation page.

Congratulations!You have not created a cup!

Managing your Cup

 

Step 1) Log in to your account on the Telkom Digital Gaming League website.

Step 2) Locate and click on the "Admin" button in the menu bar. (see image below)

 

Step 3) Click on the "Manage your cups" button. (see image below)

 

Cup management page explained

On the Cup Management page all of the cups that you have created will be listed. (example image below)

  • 1 - Admin: Click here to manage (admin) your cup.
  • 2 - Rules: Click here for a drop down menu for the rules linked to your cup.
  • 3 - View: Click here to view your cup as a player/team would see it on the Telkom Gaming Digital League site.

 

Admin page explained

Here is a breakdown of what you will see if you have clicked on the "Admin" button on your cups. (example image below)

  • 1 - Cancel Cup: If you are no longer wanting to host the cup select this to cancel and remove the entire cup.
  • 2 - Edit Cup: Click here to make edits to some of the cups details and settings.
  • 3 - Edit Rules: Click here to make edits to the rules for the cup.
  • 4 - Start Cup: Click here to start your cup. Depending on the cup you will be asked to complete one or two more pages in order to get the cup started.
  • 5 - Cup Competitors: Take a look at who has entered or been invited into your cup.
  • 6 - Invalid Actions: This is a list of actions that are not available to you at the current time. This list will update as the cup is started.
  • 7 - Edit Stage: Click here to make any edits to the stage/s that were initially set up when creating your cup.
  • 8 - Manage Competitors: Click here to manage the competitors that have registered or been invited to your cup.
  • 9 - Add Stage: Click here if you wish to add another stage to your cup.

 

 

• 2 - Edit Cup page: On this page you can make edits to the following: (example image below)

  • Your cup Banner
  • Cup name
  • Description
  • Reserves required
  • Registration closing dates and times
  • Start date of your cup
  • End date of your cup

 

• 3 - Edit Rules page: On this page you can make edits to the following: (example image below)

  • Edit/modify your cup rules
  • Add/remove additional rules

 

• 5 - Cup Competitors page: On this page you can make edits to the following: (example image below)

  • Add/remove/view competitors that have registered or been invited to your cup

 

• 7 - Edit Stage page: On this page you can make edits to stages that have already been set up, you can: (example image below)

  • Edit the name of your stage
  • Edit the round format
  • Edit start and end dates of your stage
  • Edit pool sizes
  • Edit match frequency
  • Edit max number of competitors
  • Edit number of promotions
  • Edit your points configuration

 

• 9 - Add Stage page: On this page you can add more stages to your already existing cup. This process is exactly the same as it was when you first created your cup. If you set up your cup to have one group stage, you could now for instance add in a Single elimination stage: (example image below)
