Go to Hell with Dante’s Inferno

Dante’s Inferno is a dark hack and slash third person game that brings the demon out in every gamer. Players will assume the role of the character Dante whose task it is to save the woman he loves, Beatrice, from Hell.

Dante is a young crusader who becomes disenchanted with war and finds his fiancé Beatrice lying dead outside his house upon return. Dante’s job is to then chase down the fallen angel Lucifer who has stolen her away, while dealing with his own sins and mistakes before the final judgement falls on Lucifer.

The game is based on classical literature, namely a poem from Dante Alighieri called “The Divine Comedy”. But while Dante’s Inferno is not exactly a proper interpretation of the classical material it is able to create a fantastic story that leaves players wanting more.

The game is a typical God-of-War-style hack and slash action game. Players will be able to perform combos as they collect souls from killing demons and hacking their way through the 'nine circles of hell', a concept borrowed from Alighieri's poem.

The game looks fantastic and the cut scenes are brilliant to watch. The sheer size of some of the demons that players will need to fight conveys how epic the game actually is.

Sure, it takes a lot of aspects from God of War and many other games just like it, but the difference here is that Dante’s Inferno has a compelling storyline backed with everything else that makes the game fun to play.

Players will be able to become evil or holy based on the actions they perform and they will, on many occasions, encounter historical figures throughout the depths of hell where they need to choose whether to absolve or punish them accordingly. The first one players will encounter is Pontius Pilate, and if a player was to absolve him then their holy powers would increase, where as if they were to punish him, their evil powers would increase.

The character of Dante is voiced by the talented Graham Mc Tavish who is known for his roles in the Call of Duty series, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Dragon Age: Origins.

The soundtrack of the game is great and players will enjoy listening to the slaying of demons and the music throughout the levels.

Everything Dante’s Inferno has to offer is spectacular and could make this a worthy contender of God of War, which has been at the top of its genre since the series began back on the first PlayStation.
