Microsoft reveals that the Xbox One Kinect-less bundle doubled sales for the month of June in the US.
According to "internal data based on retail calendar and sold through numbers", the new cheaper bundle saw June sales figures double that of May while the company is confident sales will remain strong through to November.
"Since the new Xbox One offering launched on June 9, we've seen sales of Xbox One more than double in the US, compared to sales in May," says Microsoft.
“We’re excited to welcome so many fans to Xbox this summer and we can’t wait for them to get their hands on the wide selection of new games available this year on Xbox One”
Microsoft announced that it was dropping the compulsory Kinect in May.
The move was critical, since developers can no longer rely upon the Kinect's availability with every Xbox One user while Xbox head Phil Spencer assured fans that the company remained committed to the motion sensor.
"To be clear, as we introduce this new Xbox One console option, Kinect remains an important part of our vision," said Spencer.
"Many of you are using Kinect for Xbox One every day. In fact, more than 80 percent of you are actively using Kinect, with an average of 120 voice commands per month on each console."
