Users Report Hacks on Origin

Users are reporting that accounts have been hacked through Origin as they have received emails that state their passwords have been successfully changed by somebody else.

The NeoGaf thread shows that some users have been receiving strange emails from Origin regarding a change in account details and after receiving it, have been struggling to login as Origin didn’t recognise the username or password originally set. The thread itself pulls a number of threads from the official EA forums posted by users who have been experiencing the same thing.

Electronic Arts is saying that Origin has not been hacked and according to Eurogamer, EA say that it is a routine ‘contact our help desk’ statement seen below.

"Anytime a player has a question about the security of his or her account or personal data, we take it very seriously and take all possible steps to help. For any customer who cannot access their Origin account for any reason, we ask them to please contact Origin Help or EA's customer experience group at help.ea.com."

EA still has ‘no reason to believe there has been any intrusion into our Origin database’ so it will be interesting to how things develop.

my password was changed last week without my knowledge
had to reset it to get back onto my account

no emails were sent to my address
no other accounts of mine were tampered with

luckily my details were not altered like some of these poor people who cannot get their accounts back

My account was hacked. Both email address and password were changed, I had to create a new email address and get the tech guy to assign my account to it. He could not assign my old email back.

The guys was really helpful but I had to create a new origin/ea profile just to get EA help. So if you are having trouble logging into your existing account you first have to create a new account to get help, that I thought was retarded
