THQ has recently formed a brand new partnership with a studio that delivers mobile, social and downloadable platform games.
After some rather heavy financial losses and the discontinuation of a number of things after the trouble THQ has been having, the company has announced it will be partnering up with Innovative Leisure starting this year.
Innovative Leisure delivers a lot of games on social, mobile and downloadable platforms and the studio includes some pretty sharp-minded guys such as Seamus Blackley, the man known for assembling the team behind the original Xbox.
ShackNews reports the services of many Atari geniuses such as Van Burnham, Ed Logg, Rich Adam, Tim Skelly, Own Rubin and Ed Rotberg. These guys were responsible for things like Supercade, Asteroirds, Missile Command, Star Castle and Battlezone.
Blackley says that it was a great honour to work with the guys who essentially shaped gameplay mechanics in the gaming industry.
“We’re excited about getting to make and release a bunch of awesome games,” he says.
Great move from THQ to adopt a strategy going forward. The company might seem to be taking some advice from people that are actually concerned over gameplay which could very well pull the company out of its problems, should enough good releases be on the cards.
