Now what’s the point of having ten free champions every week? Well, this makes it easier for older players to play a champion and see if they like him/her before buying the champion. It also helps the newbies to at least have a champion to play with and practice.
As you will see there is a nice diversity between melee and ranged as well as the different roles they can play. This makes it easy for Summoners that only play one specific role to try out characters in other roles without wasting their Influence Points (IP) or more importantly Riot Points (RP) which you have to pay for.
