“The Ministry of Silly Walks” now on Smartphones

I have never been a big fan of games for smartphones, as they often exploit the “free to play” model into its absolute worst form, but I have taken exception for the newly released Monty Python game, “The Ministry of Silly Walks”, as the famed group happens to be one of my favourite comedic groups of all time.

“The Ministry of Silly Walks” is without a doubt one of the most beloved sketches, first shown in “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”, and is one of the standout performances given by John Cleese on the show. If you are unfamiliar with the sketch, educate yourself:

It comes as no surprise then that this iconic sketch has now been turned into an equally silly game for phones, and is available for about R20 on the Android and iPhone stores. The game itself puts you in the legs of John Cleese as you navigate your way through a series of obstacles, and looks charming and silly at the same time.

The game is not that much of a surprise, since the group has reformed this year to put on their first live show in almost 20 years, and is no doubt a way of marketing their upcoming performances at the Royal Albert Hall later this year.
