Microsoft and Xbox Entertainment have revealed the first-look trailer for Ridley Scott’s (Alien; Prometheus) upcoming digital feature Halo: Nightfall.
Not to be confused with Steven Spielberg’s separate live-action Halo project, Halo: Nightfall takes place between the events of Halo 4 and the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians and will follows the origin story of ‘legendary man hunter’ Jameson Locke, portrayed by Mike Colter (Zero Dark thirty; The Good Wife).
The trailer reveals a new element that can selectively wipe out humans, which Locke, an agent for the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) and his squad must seek out and destroy.
“In science fiction, we’re always searching for new frontiers. We’re drawn to the unknown,” says Ridley Scott.
“With Halo: Nightfall, we’re pioneering a new medium in terms of interactive storytelling on Xbox. It’s going to be fun for long-time fans to see how the worlds come together with an ambition to attract new fans along the way with what we’ve created.”
The series will be part of The Master Chief Collection, a re-mastered set of the first four Halo games scheduled to release in November.
