SPOILERS AHEAD.

The Artorias of the Abyss DLC launched yesterday, but you can’t access it from the beginning of the game.

If you’ve beaten the game’s big boss at the end, Dark Souls auto-saves – and the next time you load the game, it immediately goes into a New Game+ mode.

Namco Bandai says, to access the new DLC, you’ll need to:

    Defeat Hydra at Darkroot Basin
Defeat Crystal Golem at Darkroot Basin and save Dusk of Oolacile
Defeat Crystal Golem at Duke’s Archive and get Broken Pendant
Touch Black Fog at lake in Darkroot Basin where the player defeated Hydra

If you don’t do what’s listed above, there’s no other way to access the DLC.

Dark Souls You need to have some time on your hands if you want to access the Artorias of the Abyss DLC.

It could take around 20 hours of gameplay to reach the Duke’s Archives – depending on your style of play and knowledge of the game. But also, once you enter New Game+ mode, it becomes more difficult to face enemies, who are tougher in this mode.

This DLC comes along with the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, launching today on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (already out on PC) and provides new maps and environments, bosses, enemies and weapons.
