The latest Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor trailer delves deep into the game’s lore as well as the lore behind the Lord of the Rings series, and links the books of Tolkien into the upcoming game.
Shadow of Mordor is set between the events of “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings”, and stars Talion, a ranger who was “"banished from death and embodied by a mysterious spirit, is compelled to seek vengeance on those who killed his family and left him to die".
The spirit that brought him back from the dead is none other than Celebrimbor (if you are familiar with Tolkien lore), who created the rings of power at the heart of the conflict. Using the same power he now brings Talion back to life and lets him turn Sauron’s forces to his own will and assemble his own orc army.
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is one of the games I’m most excited to play this year for many reasons, and it is glad to see the lore fits quite well into place around the other stories involved in Middle Earth.
Shadow of Mordor has been confirmed for a 3 October release on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Check out the trailer below:
