According to an anonymous Wall Street Journal source, Microsoft is currently working on its own version of next generation eye similar to Google Glass.
While the source is apparently someone familiar with the project, he did say that the project may never reach mass production. In his own words, he said, “Micorosft is determined to take the lead in hardware manufacturing to make sure the company won’t miss out on the opportunities in the wearable gadget market.”
Google Glass is the next generation from eyewear from Google, and is an optical head – mounted display which has quite a huge following already behind the technology, and is expected to release sometime in 2014.
Microsoft is not only testing their version of Google Glass, as it was reported that they were working on “smartwatch” prototypes earlier this year. Combine this with the company’s recent acquisition of Nokia’s mobile business in September this year; it seems Microsoft may just be launching itself into the mobile sector.
