It’s the Halo series’ biggest success, and Halo 4 is on its way to becoming the biggest entertainment launch of 2012.
According to CVG, Microsoft has announced that Halo 4 is “on track” to reach $300 million in global sales in its first week.
In its first 24 hours, Halo 4 hit $220 million in global sales, which Microsoft says “eclipses the record for the biggest day-one opening in US box office history. And this in a year that included the current record holder – ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2’ – and 2012’s biggest movie, ‘The Avengers’, but this record in based only on US sales.
Halo 4 is breaking all the records: the biggest title in the series, the biggest launch in 2012, so far and is adding the massively successful Halo franchise.
Another record for the Halo series saw more than 4 million player log on in five days following its release. And Microsoft says the Halo series’ lifetime sales have now reached $3.38 billion.
Microsoft Studios’ Phil Spencer said, “We’re thrilled that ‘Halo 4’ has emerged as the biggest U.S. entertainment launch of the year. Thanks to the millions of fans worldwide who helped make this another record-breaking launch for the ‘Halo’ franchise, ‘Halo 4’ is kicking off a strong holiday season and has become the must-have blockbuster experience of the year.”
