Godus Hits Kickstarter

Another amazing idea has hit Kickstarter and this time it comes from Peter Molyneux, recent creator of the company 22cans.

Godus is an innovating reinvention of Populous, the original god game which delivers global co-op, competition, creation and destruction. The original Populous was released some 22 years ago and many believe that not much has come close to matching the game since release. Molyneux and 22cans plan to do this with Godus.

The Kickstarter page is looking for £450,000 as the goal with, right now, 29 days to go. At the time of writing, the project has already received just shy of £36,000. To get the game, a minimum backing of £15 (around R215) is needed and that gets you a downloadable copy of Godus plus access to the beta version.

Apparently the game is going to take between seven and nine months to complete and draws on the battle-psychology of Dungeon Keeper, the changing world of Black & White and gameplay of Populous. The game will only be developed for PC and mobile devices at the moment, but as the Kickstarter page grows more platforms may be included.
