Blizzard is in the market of apologies and have done so once again – this time with StarCraft 2 as the development team has apologised for not allowing gamers to change their in-game names.
On the Battle.net blog, Blizzard spoke about the service that it planned a long time ago which involved gamers paying a fee for a name change, but since that was discussed nothing has moved forward. Blizzard has now acknowledged the error and will be offering more information about Paid Character Name Changes shortly after the release of StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm.
In lieu of its mistake, Blizzard is planning to offer a free name change to all StarCraft 2 players when the development team launches the new Clans feature which should be going live in the next few months.
In the meantime though, gamers have access to a new free name change on all player accounts. Players will simply need to log in to their Account Management and then choose the game license screen for StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty and then select the “Character Name Change” button at the bottom of the screen.
