EA May be Favouring PS3

It seems that EA is moving to support the PlayStation 3's motion control device, the PlayStation Move, but not the Xbox 360's motion control device, Project Natal.

Previously EA announced that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 would be supporting the PlayStation Move. Electronic Arts said the game would not come to the Xbox 360.

EA has now also announced that EA Sports Active 2 will be giving the Xbox 360 motion control a skip. EA Sports Active 2 will also be coming to the Nintendo Wii but it will not use the Wii Remote, it will be using its own motion tech.

EA Sports Active 2 is also set to come out on iPhone and iPod Touch and might grab a mass-market audience in this new cross-platform strategy.

It seems interesting that EA would leave Microsoft out in the cold with Microsoft's Project Natal motion control. One would think that EA would love to target the Xbox 360 as it is aimed at more of a family market as shown in the Project Natal adverts. Gamers may be familiar with the Project Natal advert where the entire family is on the couch playing a racing game and the father gets up to change the wheels of the Formula 1 car.

In this writer's opinion, there are three possible reasons for this:

• EA has decided not to work with Microsoft because they deem Project Natal incapable of properly working with these games.
  
• EA and Microsoft have been working together with these titles and will simply not announce them until a bigger exhibition, such as E3.
  
• Things down at the Microsoft camp are not going too well with Project Natal.
