EA Developing Frostbite Go

EA has announced that it is working on a mobile version of Frostbite called Frostbite Go which will be used to bring the engine to all major mobile platforms.

On the new Frostbite website, EA mentions the development of the Frostbite Go project, “a mobile division empowering EA game developers with Frostbite’s proven excellent workflows and features to bring true Frostbite experiences to all major mobile platforms.” This probably means that EA is slamming all that Frostbite goodness into iOS and Android so we can soon enjoy Battlefield on our phones.

EA’s newest engine, Frostbite 3, will be first seen in Battlefield 4 and it will be the first game to use the Frostbite 3 engine. The engine has been in development since 2011 but there is no telling which version of the Frostbite the mobile engine will build off. Should the development of Frostbite Go be based off Frostbite 3, there is a chance we could see some really awesome looking mobile games nearer the launch of Battlefield 4 at the end of the year.
