Last week saw the merging of the Dust 514 beta servers and the EVE Online Tranquillity server.
It would seem only obvious then that the next logical step is to get the game from closed beta to open beta and CCP has said in an official press release that this will be happening as early as 22 January. Gamers must bear in mind that it will be free to download and play for anyone with a PlayStation 3.
“The launch of the DUST 514 Open Beta is another step towards our long-term vision for CCP and EVE,” says Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP. “But this is just the beginning. As we have done with EVE Online, in the coming weeks, and for years to come, we will continually improve upon and add to the DUST 514 experience, as well as add deeper integration between the two games and their communities.”
The press release goes on to say that the players who are currently already Dust 514 mercenaries will only need worry on 22 January as from then, every shot, every battle and every contract will count and there will be no further character resets planned.
