Destiny Beta and Expansion Pass Announced



Bungie and Activision have announced the dates for their upcoming Destiny Beta, as well as reveal the collector’s edition and expansion pass for the game.

Players who pre-order the game will be guaranteed access into the Destiny Beta, which is set to start on 17 July for PlayStation owners. Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners will have to wait until 23 July to get their hands on the Beta, and the beta will run until 27 July.

Harold Ryan, Bungie president, is extremely excited about the beta.

“As we prepare to launch our first Beta on multiple console platforms around the world, we are excited and eager to open the flood gates. We already love to play Destiny, and with your help we can be ready for our launch in September,”
he says.

Alongside a trailer for the beta, Activision also detailed the Destiny Limited Edition, the Destiny Ghost Edition, and the Expansion pass:

Destiny Expansion Pass - expands the Destiny adventure post-launch with the following two expansions, which will include brand new story missions, cooperative activities and competitive multiplayer arenas, and a wealth of all new weapons, armor and gear to earn:

Expansion I: The Dark Below - Set deep beneath the surface of the Moon, fans will discover an ancient tomb that has been unsealed, and a dark god who has risen an evil army in the depths of theHellmouth, the home of the Hive enemy race

Expansion II: House of Wolves - details will be revealed later

PlayStation platforms will also include additional exclusive content for Expansion I and II and will remain exclusive until at least Fall of 2015.

Destiny Ghost Edition also includes

  • Ghost replica, featuring motion-activated lights and voice recordings from award-winning actor Peter Dinklage, voice of the Ghost character, the player's personal companion in the game

  • Letter of Introduction

  • Golden Age Relics, which include a Photo, Patch, Sticker and two Chrome slides of the Traveler


The Destiny Expansion pass will be available for $34.99 (R380) as a pack, or you can buy each expansion separately for $19.99 (R220). The Destiny Limited Edition will set you back by $99.99 (R1100), while the Ghost Edition will cost a whopping $150 (R1650).

Destiny is set for a worldwide release on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on 9 September. All players who pre-order the game will receive the Vanguard Armoury, which “"includes early access to weapons, gear and exclusive player emblems."
