Blizzard has launched Battle.net Balance, which will allow gamers to add funds to their Battle.net accounts.
The services will allow gamers to add funds to a “virtual wallet” in the same way that other platforms like SEN (formerly the PSN) and Steam. It is essentially a way to add digital products and services to your account without having to make direct transactions in order to buy something.
According to the Battle.net page, gamers will be able to buy World of Warcraft game time codes, digital versions of games and in-game pets and mounts. In the near future, it will allow gamers to buy digital upgrades and digital versions of Battle Chests.
The main attraction though has to be the use of the Battle.net Balance in Diablo 3. Players (in certain regions) can use the Balance to acquire items from the auction house in-game. Gamers can also then increase the balance of their account by selling items in the auction house in order to buy other Blizzard products.
