Rovio Entertainment has announced that Iron Man producer David Maisel and Despicable Me producer John Cohen have joined forces to produce an untitled Angry Birds movie. The film will be produced and financed entirely by original creators, Rovio Entertainment, with no help from an outside studio.
“[We] retain full creative control while creating innovative entertainment at the highest level of quality,” said the company.
The feature film will mark Rovio’s first foray in the movie business and looks to take the global phenomenon that is Angry Birds to the next level.
John Coven's history includes being the vice president of production at Twentieth Century Fox Animation prior to his work with Universal Pictures. He was previously involved with Despicable Me; Hop; Ice Age; Robots and Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who.
David Maisel is the former chairman of Marvel Studios and served as executive producer Captain America: The First Avenger; Thor; The Incredible Hulk and both Iron Man and Iron Man 2.
No plot, director or possible voice cast has been announced.
