Traffic Splitter is an application developed by a local developer which allows gamers to use a local only and blended ADSL account simultaneously in order to lower their bandwidth costs.
As the name of the application implies, websites or servers which are hosted locally are accessed through the local account (which uses local bandwidth which is much cheaper). International bandwidth is therefore reserved for sites or servers which are overseas.
The application is similar to Route Sentry, an application that allows gamers to use local and international bandwidth simultaneously, depending on what game server or website they are connecting to.
Chris Kistner, a 23-year old student from the University of Stellenbosch, developed Traffic Splitter. Traffic Splitter offers all of the advantages of Route Sentry without the disadvantages (Route Sentry is unstable on Windows 7 and Vista) and adds many useful new features.
Kistner says that he knew about the Route Sentry application but became frustrated when the developers stopped giving support and updating their application.
According to him, Route Sentry had way too many issues to be addressed and so he built his own application from the ground up.
The typical uses for Traffic Splitter are to:
Split international and local traffic across two accounts.
Split Internet traffic across shaped and unshaped accounts (Games like World of Warcraft which connect to international dedicated servers run better on unshaped accounts).
Traffic Splitter is a freely distributed application which anyone can use, making it an an invaluable tool to local gamers struggling with high bandwidth costs.
Kistner also plans to release an update in the near future which will incorporate:
A proper installer
A scheduler (for automatic updates)
A configuration wizard
Proper documentation
Do Gaming will upload the latest version of Traffic Splitter when it is released.

I think it's absolutely fantastic that someone has put this amount of work in with no obvious chance of reward. Way to go Chris, a big thanks to you from the SA gaming community!
can some1 please help me set it up? i use windows XP. i need help with framework. I downloaded v3.0 and v3.5 but none of them work. can some1 please help me?
Just to get this straight...So i will be using two different accounts, one local, one mixed, and if i join a local cod4 server this will use only the local account?
I've updated my app once again - to Beta 6.9. It was a critical update: fixing unexpected crashes when the dialing attempt failed AND fixing the incorrect username/password issue.
We have updated our Downloads section with the new version of Traffic Splitter 6.9, The link at the bottom of the article will direct you to it or you can simply click here
Thank YOU Chris for this neat app! Being a World Of Warcraft player I always have my latency fluxing constantly and sometimes the game disconnects randomly because of this high latency issues
Ok so 3 things...1=After running Traffic Splitter, must I keep the traffic splitter box open if I play on local servers [after inserting the IP's], or can I close it?
2=If I play Internationally [World Of Warcraft] I must get the servers IP im playing on? And if so how can one do this?
3=If I play on local servers I connect the local_con and disable Int_Con and If I play on International server I connect Int_con and disable Local_con?
ok this is tricky, cnt get the 2 connects to work, i knw its not the registry prob so i need help with seeting my rueter for 2 connection, think its called bridge? and help, link plz? and does the IP have to be on the list of either local or int for u to connect to it, or will it auto international if its not on the list? last question, i now how to get 1st part of ip for any adress, cmd-tracert www............ but how u get second part?
The settings of the router I use is default. So I have not configure anything on the router or my connection settings [Revering to bridge connection]. The cmd--->Tracert works fine for sites if I need to download local or international. To get Call of Duty servers IP is easy, but mmorpg games is going to be hard to figure out. Maybe there is an IP detecting tool out there on the webs. Regarding the IP question..think that if u play local u set the IP on the list under local and International under Int.
K-Nine, yes. you can minimize it to your tray if you want.
On the WoW thing I'm not sure, you can easily test by opening both connection's and playing WoW.
If you play on local servers you can keep both connections connected at all times with the routes set up, that is the whole point of using TF. IF you're playing on local servers you will only use local traffic.
K9, please post future technical support related questions in the original myBroadband thread OR at TwilightGaming's forum, since I don't read Do.Gaming articles/forum on a regular basis.
1) You may close (not just minimize to tray) TS after you've setup the routes. The routes would remain in tact until the PPPoE connection actually reset.
2) You have to include the IP addresses only if you want it to be routed through a specific network interface. By default, international WoW traffic, would be routed through the international network interface selected in TS. You don't have to enter the IP addresses for WoW, UNLESS you want to route it through an interface other than the international interface selected in TS.
3) No. The whole point of TS is that you have all the connections connected at the same time. It would then route the international traffic through the account selected as international, and the same applies for the local traffic. You're always welcome to simply dial 1 account at a time, to ensure that you don't use the wrong account's cap by accident - but then there's almost no point in using TS!
For those of you using DynDNS... I have included a DynDNS updater for local accounts in Beta 6.10 - published yesterday.
I am having issues with getting the program to work. Please can someone explain how I should proceed when installing the program. I am using Win 7 and there is no WanEndPoints.reg file that comes with the program that I can find. How do I separate my internet connections (I am using the latest version of Traffic Splitter (6.10)). At the moment I have set both my international and local connections to the same dial-up (ADSL) account. I don't think that this is the way the program should be set up in accordance to the setup instructions on this page. Please advise thanks.
BlackIce, you need 2 separate ADSL accounts to split the local & international traffic. There is a trick where you can use the local cap of the Telkom blended accounts, which involves the depletion of the international cap before the end of the month, then dialing the account before the new month starts. Try to keep that connection alive at all costs That way that connection would only have local access and use only local cap AFAIK. Dialing the same account from the PC would give you international access. Aparently the IP ranges differ too, with the local connection having an IP address 165.xxx.xxx.xxx and the international/local one having an 41.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address. This method isn't recommended.
You can download the WanEndPoints registry file from: http://www.quickshare.co.za/files/v2mxeto9/WanEndPoints.reg.html
Update: for those of you that's wanting to split traffic via a Wireless adapter... I've discovered today for the first time that I didn't list any Wireless devices. I've fixed this in version 6.11.
Once again: if you want fast tech support, ask in the myBroadband thead please...
okay once you have finished all of the above I'm still unable to know if its using my int cap first, both connections work simultaneously set up the routes put in call of duty servers That works but when checking telkom usage portal this is what i got

Sp0rN, please see my last post with regards to the massive memory leak: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?201023-Testbunnies-required-for-my-app-similar-to-RouteSentry&p=3878141&viewfull=1#post3878141
aids, if you click the buttons to get the International & Local IP addresses, they should be different, otherwise the splitting IS NOT WORKING!
To all: please ask questions on myBroadBand if you want to get support from me. You're welcome to give feedback here, but I'm not viewing this page on a regular basis (unlike I'm doing on myBB).
