Telkom Do Gaming has officially released a TeamSpeak 3 (TS3) server for its registered members to use.
The official client can be downloaded here from the official TeamSpeak website. Do Gaming users can go here to create a team channel and begin making use of the server once they have downloaded the client.
TS3 is a voice-over internet protocol (VOIP) application which has been designed specifically for use by gamers to communicate while playing games.
The application is currently in a Beta period and is limited to 32 slots, but this will be upgraded as soon as the TeamSpeak licensing company releases the licenses for TS3.
At the time of writing there have already been 42 clan channels created, showing that the server already proves to be popular.
Do Gaming will soon be allowing users to modify the codec and quality settings to cater for 384K players who struggle with the high bandwidth usage. The high bandwidth usage means that 384K users often experience lag while playing games and using TS3 at the same time.
Why TS3?
TS3 offers many advantages over its predecessor, TeamSpeak 2. These include superior voice quality, lesser delay, noise cancellation, an easier user-interface, a variety of new access features and a new file transfer system. Depending on users’ permissions, they can recursively upload or download files on a per-channel basis or into a common folder tree. All files are stored directly on the TS 3 Server.
TS 3 has fully integrated 3D sound support which allows spatial placement of sound effects and audio streams and a new authentication solution making it more secure.
TS3 was re-written from the ground up using C++ to improve TeamSpeak's performance and compatibility. This allows TeamSpeak 3's native binaries to be built from the same codebase for various target operating systems, according to their website.
These improvements are a big help to players new and old and make the new service well worth trying out.
