The regional competitions began in September last year and took place over Gauteng and the Western Cape in a five week period. The other regions participated using the www.lgmobileworldcup.com website, according to the MSSA.
The National Championship took place at The Piazza, Montecasino (Fourways, Johannesburg) on 24 October last year, where 200 of the finalists battled it out. Contestants were given the choice of using a numeric keypad or a QWERTY keyboard, with only 50 of the finalists opting for the latter.
The event was graced with performances from some popular South African artists, such as Prime Circle, Flash Republic, DJ Euphonic and DJ Small Paul.
