MSSA Leagues Delayed

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has confirmed that their leagues have been delayed due to technical difficulties.

After saying the rosters would go up latest Sunday evening, David Vannucci, MSSA league coordinator, admitted on Monday that the reason the leagues were being delayed was to “minor technical difficulties on the server.”

“We’re having a problem with one of the mods on one of the games and as a result all the leagues are being delayed and will start together,” he says. He would not comment on which game was giving them the difficulty.

Vannucci could confirm that the online leagues being played are: Warcraft III: Defence of the Ancients (DotA), Call of Duty 4 (CoD4), Counter Strike 1.6, Quake III, Starcraft and TrackMania Nations Forever. This is less than half the original number of games planned by MSSA.

However, he refused to comment on how many players are actually playing in the leagues saying this will be announced in a press release at some point in the future. He did confirm 12 clubs have signed up and says many of them have entered multiple teams.

According to MSSA regulations, they require a minimum of four teams in team games and eight individual players in single player games.

The minimum number of players in their leagues is therefore 84 although one of the CoD4 teams says the MSSA confirmed to them that seven teams had entered.

It is therefore presumed that the following games could not garner enough support: FIFA 09 on PS3; Gears of War 2 and Guitar Hero on Xbox; Team Fortress 2; Call of Duty 5, Read Alert 3 and Guildwars.

However, Vannucci says these seven games will still be offered at the MSSA LAN championships being held this year.

I'm sure all 3 teams that signed up will be feeling disappointed... Another great fail by the MSSA...

Don't worry guys, you'll still get national colours as there is no1 to play against.
