CoD4Telkom Do Gaming is holding competitions at rAge this year in Battlefield 2 (BF2), Counter Strike Source (CS:S) and Call of Duty 4 (CoD4). The competitions will take place in a VIP section. However some gamers have raised some questions about the VIP section.
First off, gamers from the various competitions have raised the question of registered reserve players in the Do Gaming league and whether they will be able to play on the day.
The answer is no. The space is limited in the area, so there is only enough seating for the core teams in each competition. Gamers from the VIP LAN will still be able to play with gamers in the open LAN because they are connected. So when gamers aren’t competing in the Do Gaming competition, they will be able to play with other players on the open LAN.
With regards to team mates being close to them while they compete, Do Gaming will be making space for spectators to come into the VIP section to watch and socialise with the players in the Do Gaming competitions.
Spectators will not require open LAN tickets and at this stage it’s still uncertain how many spectators will be allowed in at one time as Do Gaming is still working out concerns with regards to the space of the VIP section. But spectators will have the chance to get into the area.
Therefore gamers will be able to play with their friends from the VIP section or from the open LAN as they will have tickets to that as well. Their team mates, friends and family will have the chance to see them in action in the VIP area. However, clans will have to pick their best teams for rAge and trust that those players are the rights ones from the competition.
The number of teams in the Do Gaming competitions will be:
• Call of Duty 4 – top 36 teams
• Counter Strike Source – 12 teams
• Battlefield 2 – 10 teams
The ranking of the teams will be decided from the third leg of the Do Gaming League. In the case of CoD4, there will be a playoff at the end of the leg and the top 36 teams thereafter will receive rAge tickets.
AGASA is also looking at the possibility of holding casual competitions in the open LAN across various games and possibly cordoning off an area for these competitions. But this is still to be confirmed.
