Memento Mori Defeats Plasma

Last night Plasma suffered defeat in their match against Memento Mori in the Counter-Strike: Source (CS:S) Telkom Do Gaming Online League 2010, after a tense match on the map Inferno Pro with a score of 16-11.

Do Gaming caught up with Tiaan “TinySkapie” Opperman to find out more about how their game went, chat about the CS:S scene at the moment and see how Plasma are doing overall.

Unfortunately, Do Gaming was not able to get hold of Memento Mori at the time of writing to hear their perspective on the game.

Telkom Do Gaming (DG): How did your match go last night against Memento Mori?

It was not what we expected. We struggled to get our strats going and our timing was completely off.

DG: Are you impressed by their form?

Yes I am. It was nice seeing them at the MPLD CS:S comp as well last weekend. They look like a good up-and-coming team.

DG: How did the MPLD competition go for Plasma?

Well to be honest not too good. We put time in and we practiced what we needed to practice, but at the end of the day practicing alone on a server and practicing against live opponents are two different things. I think we have something to prove in the next comp so we will definitely be coming back for more even despite our last two LAN performances.

DG: Is your team planning any line-up changes?

Well, we need to get a fifth for rAge as one of our players won't be able to attend due to studies, so we are still looking for someone in the CS:S scene with some experience behind their name.

DG: Who do you rate was the man of the match last night?

Charndre 'trAumA' Mey no doubt. Despite all our issues and troubles throughout the year, he put in the time as player and leader.

Last night he played like a demon and it makes me proud to say that I have a captain that never gives up. I think his score alone was 20 - 0 at a stage where we all had 2 - 12 on average.

DG: What are your opinions in regards to CSPromod and its possible future in South Africa?

I was waiting for you to ask me something like this (smiles). CSPromod is really looking good, and their development team is working very hard to accumulate the community's needs.

It will definitely take over competitive CS:S in this country and I personally can't wait for that to happen. It will bring back all the old players and because of that more teams will be formed which always makes it more fun and intense, if I can use those two words in the same sentence.

DG: Do you think c7e will continue to hold the number one spot in the next competition?

It’s hard to tell. They are a very hard working team, looking to grab every opportunity coming their way. I think this past weekend they shocked a lot of teams. If they can keep up playing hard like they do they can remain in the Top Three spot without a doubt.

DG: Every team’s ultimate goal is to win rAge. How does your team plan to tackle such a challenge?

We've tried different approaches every year since 2006, but I think our main focus must be to try and play at least 14 hours a week. And then it’s just to take it game by game; playing our best; doing what we can round for round.
