Legend’s LAN Rocks Sleepy Hollow

Pietermaritzburg is fondly known as Sleepy Hollow by its residents and while some of South Africa’s top gamers like Travis “Shase” Weedon and the West brothers come from there, it’s certainly not a gaming metropolis. But the Underwood family are doing a fantastic job in hosting a great little LAN every month called Legend’s LAN and gamers in the area should check it out.

Clive and Jolene Underwood organise the LAN along with their family and with the LAN utilising the infrastructure from FRAG LAN down in Durban, Legend’s LAN has fantastic network.

Computer World has opened a store in Pietermaritzburg and is sponsoring the LAN with some nice prizes on offer too.

Prizes for the LAN which starts today at 5pm include:

• 5 x Yodata 80pc CD Pouches
  
• 5 x Yodata 40pc CD Pouches
  
• 5 x XGR USB Mini Vacuums

The Underwoods are hoping the prizes will also help boost numbers which have been as much as 50, but with a venue that can take 200, there is a lot of room to grow.

The LAN plays Call of Duty4 and other PC games as well as Guitar Hero and Street Fighter on Xbox 360. The LAN runs through to Sunday 10am and has a tuckshop there with most of the gamers sleeping at the LAN.

“Entrance is R100, but people can bring in one spectator for free and also secure a free ticket if they bring three paying friends,” Jolene Underwood says.
