DnA:FaTal aTTraction is a new all-girl team on the scene. The girls play Call of Duty 4 (CoD4) and are captained by Jolene 'Jin' Underwood, co-owner of the DnA clan.
It's great seeing another all-girl team in the scene and so Do Gaming decided to ask Underwood a few questions around the team.
The line-up:
JIN – AK (Captain)
Trinity – SMG (Vice Captain)
Dizzy - SMG
TigerLiLee – AK
KitKat – Sniper
Fenix – AK (Reserve)
Telkom Do Gaming (DG): So, tell us how you started and why you came together?
Fatal Attraction was originally a mixed team – so that Trinity and I could play competitive as well. Hence the name being very girly. But as the clan grew and the guys were put into stronger teams I knew that I wanted an all girl's team in DnA.
I initially met Fenix at Legend's LAN for the first time and we absolutely hit it off. She just has such an amazing personality. Unfortunately she has recently moved and is still waiting for her line to be put in and has therefore not been active for a while.
Dizzy I have known for a while, but did not know that she even played online until her husband brought her along to Legend's LAN and she joined us.
KitKat was introduced to us by the Captain of DnA: Necrofiend, Garth 'NameStlr' Renecle, and TigerLiLee I met via the all female gaming clan Mixed Chicks. She has also taken a bit of time to try and teach me how to play StarCraft 2.
DG: How different would you say the dynamics are in an all-girl team compared to a mix team?
I don't think that the dynamics are really that much different. While saying that, though, girls don't tend to rage as much as the guys and we get the giggles and scream when we get a fright. And yes, I do scream. I'm sure the neighbors think i am a battered wife. (Laughs.)
DG: Why do you think there are so few girls in the community? Do you think this is changing?
I firmly believe that there are more girls in the gaming community than we think. Guys watch out the girls are crawling out of the woodwork!
I think more girls are getting involved in gaming and one of the reasons is because the online world is becoming more accessible. And I rate that the girls are getting tired of watching the boyfriends / husbands play and having all the fun.
DG: How competitive are you planning to go?
Fatal Attraction will hopefully join DGL 2011 in the second leg. I really don't know how we will do against the guys, but we are definitely going to work hard and try our best.
I really don't mind being beaten as long as I know that I have given my all. I think all the ladies in Fatal Attraction feel the same way.
DG: How much practice are you putting in?
At the moment we are just playing socially. TigerLiLee is away until mid Feb and Fenix is waiting for her line. The rest of us are currently just mixing it up with the boys or playing open servers. When everyone is back it will be practice three times a week at the least.
DG: Where do you see CoD4 going this year?
I think CoD4 will pretty much continue as it did last year. I don't see very many changes. I do wish though that the DGL finals will be held at rAge this year. Holding thumbs and making plenty of wishes.
DG: Who would you rate will be the top four CoD4 teams this year?
Bravado, Entropy Gaming, BFB and Ventus.
DG: Who are the dark horses you think we should look out for?
iMg Vigil (Impulse Gaming) - A really great bunch of guys with some awesome talent. They did really well at the Do Gaming Championships last year.
DnA: Necrofiend - Young, energetic team who are ready to take on the world.
RgM Militia (Regiment Gaming) - Phenomenal gaming style. These guys are out to win.
DG: So what impresses gamer girls?
Cute computer geeks that sparkle in the sun. (Just kidding!)
Guys, we don't like to be harassed. We just want to get on a server and play. Yeah some of us might be really noob, but hey you were once too. Rather help us than criticise.
