Telkom Do Gaming Online League 2010Today is the official release date of the highly anticipated first-person shooter (FPS) Battlefield: Bad Company 2. However, certain retailers sold the title from yesterday already.
The game is being released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and carries an age restriction of 16+.
Competitive, hardcore and casual gamers alike have been looking forward to the release of this sequel to the original console-exclusive Battlefield: Bad Company. Electronic Arts (EA), the game's publisher, and DICE, developers of the title, have been making some high promises for the game, calling it a “best in-class online warfare experience.”
Many competitive gamers have been looking forward to the release of the game since Telkom Do Gaming is running a league for it, which kicks off later this month. Do Gaming is also launching six servers on Saix Gaming Services (SGS) for the title.
Non-competitive gamers can look forward to a great single-player campaign and some fantastic multiplayer action. Here's what EA have to say about the game:
”In Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the 'B' company fight their way through snowy mountaintops, dense jungles and dusty villages. With a heavy arsenal of deadly weapons and a slew of vehicles to aid them, the crew set off on their mission and they are ready to blow up, shoot down, blast through, wipe out and utterly destroy anything that gets in their way.
“Whether online or in the single player campaign, players use every weapon and vehicle to survive and conquer. Players choose from 15 authentically modeled vehicles, each providing a tactical advantage and offering a variety of gameplay options. The new UH-60 transport helicopter can ship an entire four-player squad directly into battle, while allowing two additional team members to wreak havoc with its two mounted rail guns on board.
“Battlefield: Bad Company 2 players will have a selection of 46 weapons that players can customise into over 200 different, high-powered firearms. There are over 15,000 kit variations possible in the game, giving each squad member the ability to choose the weapon upgrades and combat enhancements that best fits their playing style. Between the weapons, kit combinations and deadly vehicles, players will be equipped with a wide range of gadgets, accessories and character specialisations to give them the edge in the heat of battle.”
Gamers who pre-ordered the game or won a beta key in Do Gaming's two beta key competitions were able to preview the game through playing the beta version. It received a lot of praise.
Trevor “Qu1k” Henry, who plays competitively for the Call of Duty 4 (CoD4) clan BFB Lard (and who are soon to play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 competitively) reviewed the beta for Do Gaming, saying the game is “fast and frantic with fantastic graphics and gameplay that feels somewhat like a mixture between Battlefield 2 (BF2) and Call of Duty 4 (CoD4).”
