The Bad Company 2 (BFBC2) PC Beta Client is now live and available to download at Telkom Do Gaming here, using local bandwidth.
The client is 1.5 GB to download. Gamers on a Telkom Do Broadband package are reminded that they get 10 GB of local bandwidth free on a two GB account; 20 GB of local bandwidth free on a three GB account; and 30 GB of local bandwidth free on a five GB package. This is made available after they have reached their cap.
In order to get a Beta key to play the game, gamers will need to pre-order the game through the likes of BT Games or Incredible Connection.
According to EA, the Beta has been released for many reasons, like testing the infrastructure, hosting stability, and gameplay tuning (FOV, Weapon Balance, etc...).
This means there could be times of choppiness, lag, disconnects, CTDs or other issues a Beta version of any multiplayer game would have. EA will have feedback methods similar to the PS3 Beta as well to ensure gamers’ input is gathered and heard.
EA warns that there will be things updated in the final game, like a server browser with more functions, optimisations, performance tweaks, and learning's from the Beta.
Getting Started In the Beta
- STEP 1: Gamers must make sure they have at least five GB free on their hard drives.
- STEP 2: Once installation is completed, start the client and click the login button. Gamers will then be prompted to sign in with their EA Account. If gamers don't have an EA Account, they’ll be able to create one in the same screen.
- STEP 3: Gamers will then need to enter the unique PC Beta Code during the login process to authenticate their participation in the Beta.
- Step 4: Gamers will then create their Soldier name (this will lock that name to their EA account for retail if they want to keep it).
