Racers Look to Mount Panorama

Round 10 of the 2014 Telkom Gaming Gran Turismo 6 (GT6) League will resume tomorrow on Mount Panorama as racers prepare for the end of an enduring season.

Mount Panorama Circuit, more commonly known as Bathurst, is a real world racing circuit in New South Wales, Australia. The track is host to a complete day/night cycle, which can be used to recreate the real-life 24-hour race and was used avidly to promote GT6 upon release.

From the start-finish line, the track can be viewed in three sections; the short pit straight and then a tight left turn into the long, steep Mountain straight; the tight, narrow section across the top of the mountain itself; and then the long, downhill section of Conrod Straight, with the very fast Chase and the turn back onto pit straight to complete the lap.

As of writing, back-to-back Telkom Do Gaming Champion David 'GTAS_PEETHAM' Peetham sits top of the table while teammate Robin 'GTAS_Krsht' Van Merch and Justin 'justin watokal1' Jonck round off the podium in second and third respectively.

Despite a difficult start to the season, Van Merch capitalized with a first place finish on Circuit de la Sarthe to close the gap between the top three to just 36 points, as we approach the end of the 2014 campaign.

Interestingly, Mount Panorama has a woeful real-life safety record. Sixteen competitors, including 1967 World Drivers' Champion Denny Hulme who suffered a fatal heart attack at the wheel of his car, have lost their lives on the course. Let’s hope our racers have better luck.
